Jeni Hansen Gard – Old North Columbus – Day 3

This evening I had a late night dinner with my good friend Michelle. We sat down at the table around 8:30 in the evening and enjoyed conversation until almost 11:00. Eating with Michelle made clear to me why I had put so much effort into this project. As the artist, designer, and creator of this project I sometimes get lost in my own making. Michelle was a gentle reminder of the joy that can be found in eating a shared meal and the significance of the handmade vessel. The vessel exists on long after this project is competed as an artifact and remainder of what happened. Yet in each meal shared it is the prompt and the start to a conversation. This evenings conversation was honest, thoughtful, and engaging. Michelle shared her immediate pleasure in the pattern found in the bottom of the cup and the unique taste of the radish that topped her salad. We ended the meal was a little sweetness and cream, dunking cookies into a glass of milk. WP_20150219_002

I love the images of the girls on your wall! One standing still (or jumping in place?), the other running 🙂 Delightful details!
