Jeni Hansen Gard – Old North Columbus – Day 11

Today I shared a meal with my studio mate Natalia. Natalia’s amazing figurative work is also in the exhibition this project is apart of. If you have not made it to Urban Arts Space to see the show I highly recommend it! The show is up until March 21, 2015 which is also the final day of this project.
Natalia and I arrived in Columbus three years ago both relocating from Florida. We were the only ceramics graduate students admitted into the program that year and it has been a pleasure getting to know Natalia over the past few years. Sharing a meal isn’t something we do often. We are both intensely dedicated to our studio practice and because of past experience I think we use school as a place to work and not so much socialize. We took the dishes out to lunch at Heirloom Cafe in the Wexner Center for the Arts. This was my first attempt at using the dishes at a restaurant. Unfortunately they were too busy at the time to plate our order on the dishes. So when it arrived we transferred the food and then enjoyed each others company for a late afternoon lunch.
